MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chad Johnson is now the former husband of Evelyn Lozada. According to TMZ.com, the couple’s divorce has been finalized just one month after it was filed.
TMZ reported a Florida judge signed off on the divorce early Wednesday morning. According to TMZ, Johnson didn’t want to sign off on the split and waited to sign the papers until late week.
The divorce was spurred by the incident that ended up with the Dolphins cutting Johnson. The outspoken wide receiver was arrested and has since been charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly headbutting Lozada during an argument over a receipt for condoms she found.
Johnson was cut from the team a little more than 24 hours after the initial arrest. His dismissal from the team was captured by HBO cameras as they filmed the “Hard Knocks” show featuring the Dolphins in training camp.
Chad Johnson recently had his wife’s face tattooed on his leg and vowed to put the pieces of the relationship with Lozada back together, according to TMZ. Sources close to Lozada said that will never happen, according to TMZ.
